I am now going to be sharing the 10 energy intensive attempts to get closer to what I think would represent the image described. I altered the text by removing many pronouns and clarifying the goal. I also increased the quality. The prompt for the last images was: "I saw a windstorm coming out of the north that had an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light. In the center of the fire looked like glowing metal, and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures. The four creatures appeared human, but each had four faces and four wings. The four creature's legs were straight; The four creature's feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished bronze. Under the four creature's wings on their four sides, they had human hands. All four creatures had faces and wings, and the wings of one touched the wings of another. The four creature's faces looked like this: Each of the four had the face of a human being, and on the right side each had the face of a lion, and on the left the face of an ox; each also had the face of an eagle. The four creatures each had two wings spreading out upward, each wing touching that of the creature on either side; and each had two other wings covering its body. The appearance of the living creatures was like burning coals of fire or like torches. Fire moved back and forth among the creatures; it was bright, and lightning flashed out of it."

At this point, the results were still more abstract than desired. We did not get closer to the description. For the next attempts, I further altered the text in the interest of trying to intentionally steer it towards the idea of the description. New text prompt: “There was what looked like four living creatures. I decided with this experiment to put all the images out first and then follow it with an analysis so that if some are not interested in me dissecting the images, they would not have to scroll through my ramblings first.

Analysis:

To reiterate, the text prompt used for iterations 1 – 100 was: “I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north—an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light. The center of the fire looked like glowing metal, and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures. In appearance their form was human, but each of them had four faces and four wings. Their legs were straight; their feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished bronze. Under their wings on their four sides they had human hands. All four of them had faces and wings, and the wings of one touched the wings of another. Each one went straight ahead; they did not turn as they moved. Their faces looked like this: Each of the four had the face of a human being, and on the right side each had the face of a lion, and on the left the face of an ox; each also had the face of an eagle. Such were their faces. They each had two wings spreading out upward, each wing touching that of the creature on either side; and each had two other wings covering its body. The appearance of the living creatures was like burning coals of fire or like torches. Fire moved back and forth among the creatures; it was bright, and lightning flashed out of it.”

I was limited by character count, which is why I narrowed the scope to Ezekiel 1:4-11, 13 The following are the descriptive things I believe should be represented based on the text. 1. “saw a windstorm coming out of the north—an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light” – A storm with clouds and lightning present.

2 & 3. “The center of the fire looked like glowing metal in the fire was what looked like four living creatures” – Since I do not have the resources to evaluate to the smallest details, I have chosen to separate this idea into two basic qualities. “2. Are there what could be seen as living creatures?” “3. If there are, are they in or near what could be seen as fire?”

4. “In appearance their form was human, but each of them had four faces and four wings.” – For this part I am not evaluating the wings or number of faces. I am only evaluating if there is a form that could be human.

5. “Their legs were straight; their feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished bronze.” – Are the feet or calves represented in any way to be like those of a calf OR burnished bronze?

6. “Under their wings on their four sides they had human hands. All four of them had faces and wings, and the wings of one touched the wings of another.” – Do they have hands and/or wings that touch.

- “Each one went straight ahead; they did not turn as they moved.” – I did not want to omit this detail from the experiment, but I am not including it in the evaluation of performance as I do not have a great way to discern if the AI even attempted to include this detail.

7. “Their faces looked like this: Each of the four had the face of a human being, and on the right side each had the face of a lion, and on the left the face of an ox; each also had the face of an eagle. Such were their faces.” – Is there the face of a lion, ox, or eagle present in the image?

8. “They each had two wings spreading out upward, each wing touching that of the creature on either side; and each had two other wings covering its body.” – Are there wings upward as well as downward in the image?

9. “The appearance of the living creatures was like burning coals of fire or like torches.” – Is the appearance of entities, if present, of a quality that could be: bright, fire, or torch like?

10. “Fire moved back and forth among the creatures; it was bright, and lightning flashed out of it.” – Are either fire or lightning appearing to be moving between any objects?

I have chosen the criteria for evaluation based on the fact that I am assessing an AI that follows algorithms based on images and text associated with those images. There are some things I would expect a human to infer that I would not expect an AI to draw connections between. I limited the criteria to try and cover the most obvious evocations, and if a feature doubled up, I had to choose one to evaluate it by. For example, the wings came up four times.

Like the Locusts of Revelation, I will also be evaluating the 110 images for patterns that are not necessarily directed in the text. The goal of this second evaluation is to find patterns and see if I can match them to input. I would like to be able to steer the AI better when I am using it to try and create an image from my dreams. So far, this is still challenging even with the information gathered thus far.

1. Orange & Blue Dominance (colors)

2. 0 Creatures/Humans Present

3. 1 - 3 Creatures/Humans Present

4. 4 Creatures/Humans Present

5. 5 or more Creatures/Humans Present

6. Multiple Distinct Images

7. Desert Like Setting

8. No Discernable Imagery

9. Only Sky is Visible

10. Water on Ground 11. Birds are Present

I did separate the evaluation between the first 100 and the last 10 since I altered the input to try and get closer to the goal.

1 - 110 Spreadsheet

Each item evaluated is treated as a binary, either a 1 or 0. It either is represented, or is not. The advantage of doing it this way is that I can total and get percentages for the presence of elements.

1 - 100 Breakdown

The first 10 criteria I felt were pretty well represented in text, however, after 100 iterations, some elements never appeared. The feet or calves like those of calf or bronze did not appear and neither did the Wings upward and downward. In fact, I was very surprised at how little wings came up at all as it was brought up 4 times in the text.

The algorithm gave me more neat storm pictures than anything else. The text revolves around "Four living creatures," but 45% of the images had 0 living beings. 39% had 1 - 3 beings. Only 11% contained four living creatures.

So, how did we do when the text was refined?

101 - 110 Breakdown

Once the text was adjusted, no element remained absent entirely. Still only 20% had 4 living creatures, but only 1 image had none. The images also felt closer to the original text. I thought birds would be much more present in both sections since there were the wing references, but apparently the algorithm was not very interested in this dominant theme, so I was a bit thrown off. I figured it would just keep making birds. 60% of the refined images had settings that appeared to be deserts and 47% of the first 100 had settings that appeared to be deserts. I cannot figure out where it was getting the implication from when I read the text. The setting is never even described, only the beings.

I have produced many images and projects since I finished this one, I have a few more 100 iteration experiments, but I intend to post of few of the shorter experiments sooner so it is not such a gap between postings.
